Travller’s Book for November

Richard Adams – Watership Down

To be honest, starting to read this book, I was a bit sceptic towards it. After all, reading about rabbits didn’t seem really tempting for me, but it’s a classic so I decided to give it a try.

And I’m glad I did! Here and there even felt the same excitement as when reading The Hobbit from J. R. R. Tolkien!

You will go on a journey, looking for new home, new hopes, overcoming various obstacles, fighting for your life. And not only this book is a great adventure, you can also find different patterns of behaviour mirroring our society – like when you visit a foreign country and can’t stop wondering what’s so different and why.

A few short reviews:

“An intoxicating and beautiful book… Joyous and imaginative… Unbearably exciting… A tale of adventure that has you cheering all the way.”
– Hartford Courant

“Fascinating, even thrilling, reading… One glorious adventure after another… Richard Adams is a master storyteller.”
– New Haven Register

“Epic drama… Very satisfying… There is rebellion, temptation, migration, settlement, battle, romance, and internal mythology… Adams has spun an involved and involving tale.”
– CBS Radio
